1 Read the postcard. Tick the activities that are mentioned. Circle the activity you can see in the photo.

Writing Guide

4 Read the task above. Make notes for your postcard. Include activities from exercise 1, phrases from exercise 3 and the tenses mentioned in the Writing Strategy.

• Where? Lake Baikal, staying at a campsite by the shore.
• The weather? Sunny, warm and breezy.
• Activities (past): Trekked through the forest, climbed a scenic hill, cycled along the shore.
• Activities (future): Kayaking across the bay tomorrow, going caving in the cliffs.

5 Now write your postcard using your notes from exercise 4.

Hi Alex,

I'm having a great time! This is my third day at Lake Baikal. We're staying at a lovely campsite near the water. The weather is fabulous — sunny and warm.

Yesterday we trekked through the pine forest and climbed a steep hill to see the amazing view. Today we cycled along the picturesque shore.

Tomorrow we're kayaking across the bay, and in the evening we're going caving. Wish you were here!
